As Senior Manager of the Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting, Joan Wai oversees all aspects of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ international amateur screenwriting competition. She has worked with the Nicholl in various capacities for over a decade. Prior to joining the Nicholl, Joan was a published author, story analyst, script consultant, and had judged for a variety of screenwriting competitions. She earned her screenwriting degree from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts.
 
Established in 1985, the Nicholl Fellowships’ mission is to identify and encourage talented new screenwriters. Up to five $35,000 fellowships are awarded annually.  www.Oscars.org/Nicholl
