JOCELYN CLARKE is a writer and dramaturg for stage and screen. He is currently Senior Dramaturg at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. He was Theatre Advisor to the Arts Council of Ireland for ten years. He has taught dramaturgy at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Columbia University, and Trinity College Dublin. He was the Commissioning and Literary Manager of the Abbey Theatre for four years, and lead theater critic with The Sunday Tribune for nine years. He has written plays for Anne Bogart and the SITI Company — including Bob, Room, and Trojan Women – and he is an Associate Artist with Theatre Mitu and The Civilians. As a dramaturg, Clarke has worked with writers such as Katori Hall, Taylor Mac, Lydia Diamond, Abhishek Majumdar, Eduardo Machado, Charles Randolph Wright, Lisa Kron, Craig Lucas, Carl Hancock Rux, Mary Kathryn Nagle, Tanya Saracho, and Karen Zacarias. He was a script editor on several Irish films, including Young Offenders, and was executive story editor on all three seasons of the BBC/RTE TV series Young Offenders. He worked on Season 1 of P-Valley, Hall’s acclaimed TV series for Starz, and he is looking forward to working on the next season. He is currently working on a new adaptation of Elizabeth Swados’ musical The Beautiful Lady, which will premiere at La Mama Theatre in New York next year.
